Hi and welcome to my Wildlife Photography Blog.

Photographing from the Zambezi River, Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia
Here’s where I regularly post wildlife images, mostly taken on trips to the African bush.
Please feel free to browse through the Categories (right column), or you can go straight to the most recent posts.
The majority of the pictures were taken in the wild, in the animals’ natural habitat — sometimes in the great national parks of Africa, and at others in smaller, more humble nature reserves.
I usually include basic photography information like the camera and lens used, together with the camera settings, plus snippets of information about the animal or why I chose those specific camera settings.
Please bear in mind that comments and questions are always welcome, as are clicks on the “Like” and “+1″ buttons.
The horizontal menu along the top of the page will take you to relevant pages on my main site, Wildlife Pictures Online.
Thanks for visiting.

Scott: I would be enormously grateful for any advice you can offer, based on your wildlife photography experience. I’m going on two trips in September (one next weekend), and I’d like to take pictures of the wildlife. The trips are to wildlife refuges. I need to buy a camera. I can read, and read, and read about wildlife cameras on the internet, but I would appreciate hearing thoughts from an experienced photographer. If you could spend about $1,000 (give or take), and you prefer ease of use, and best possible qualify, …can you suggest a camera or two? Thanks — so much — for your time and consideration! Judey P.S. If the right camera can’t be secured by next Friday, I can pass on taking pics next weekend — and get the right, best camera for the bigger trip beginning on 9/21…
Judey, thanks for your questions and apologies for not replying immediately. I’ll email you with some suggestions.

Hi Judey, have sent you an email with some recommendations and also put my thoughts on a web page as feel your questions are relevant for others needing similar info — see Wildlife Camera Starter Kit.
Hi Prashant — thanks for your kind comments about my photographs.
I’m afraid it’s impossible to give you a definite answer how to get started as a professional photographer, as I have no idea about your interests or skill levels. Nowdays it’s hard making a living from photography unless you specialize in a particular field, for example childrens’ portraits, wedding photography, photojournalism, sports photography, wildlife photography, industrial photography, forensics … the list goes on.
I would suggest you take a formal course in photography, either through a college or online, to brush up on the fundamentals, then choose a field in which you want to specialize and study what the experts in this field are doing. There are thousands of websites and blogs showcasing the work of professionals, so there’s no shortage of examples to study and learn from.
Sorry I can’t be more specific, but can only add that professional photography demands study, hard work, and passion and if you have these, then you can succeed.
Thanks Mr Scotch! for spending ur time to reply.
Its very nice to see ur response.
Yeah, I agree with you that suggestions can’t be much specefic, but if I can have ur e-mail id, I will share my album on picasa with you. I request you to see once and comment if u see some potential.
I’ve not taken any formal education so far so I’ll definitely take ur point regarding it.
Thanks again.
